Amazon has signed a strategic agreement with Delta Air Lines to equip its fleet with satellite-based internet services under its Amazon Leo project, marking one of the largest aviation deals for the initiative to date.
Under the agreement, Delta becomes the second major airline to adopt the service after JetBlue, reflecting growing commercial confidence in the early-stage satellite network.
The move is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to build a large constellation of satellites delivering global high-speed internet, positioning it in direct competition with Starlink, operated by SpaceX, which currently dominates the market.
Amazon plans to deploy thousands of satellites over the coming years to expand global coverage, with aviation emerging as a key priority due to rising demand for in-flight connectivity.
Delta is expected to begin phased deployment across its fleet in the coming years, initially covering hundreds of aircraft before expanding to its full network.
