Egypt Discusses Annual Financing Program with Islamic Development Bank Group to Support Food Security and Trade

Dr. Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Egypt’s Governor at the Islamic Development Bank Group, held discussions with the Group on arrangements for signing the annual program with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), as part of the broader partnership framework with Egypt.

The meeting took place during a session with Eng. Noureddine Mabrouk, Regional Manager of the Bank’s Cairo office, along with his accompanying delegation.

The development program between Egypt and the ITFC focuses on key priority areas, including food security, energy, trade development, and private sector empowerment.

According to Rostom, the ongoing global challenges and mounting pressures on resources and supply chains underscore the importance of adopting more flexible policies by international financial institutions.

Such approaches would help countries adapt to evolving conditions, ensure market stability, secure access to essential goods, and maintain a fair competitive environment that supports sustainable growth.

The discussions also highlighted the key activities and programs of the Islamic Development Bank Group and its affiliated institutions, particularly their role in supporting member countries through development financing, technical assistance, and capacity building.

In addition, both sides reviewed initiatives aimed at boosting investment and advancing sustainable development projects across various sectors.
